ADHD Assessment
Rockingham Psychology are pleased to offer assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for adults aged 18 and above.
What to expect:
Assessments are currently undertaken by one of our registered psychologists, Chester Ma.
At the first appointment Chester will obtain a detailed history from the client which will start to form the overall assessment for ADHD. To obtain this history Chester will ask a range of questions and work to understand why an assessment may be beneficial.
Questions may start general then become more specific to help identify the presence of ADHD, and how it may impact on the client's life.
The assessment process will examine not only the client's challenges but also their strengths, along with any mental health or clinical concerns that could influence the diagnosis.
Why undertake an ADHD Assessment?
- Understand ADHD, the symptoms of ADHD and some of the challenges involved.
- Developing a better understanding of your areas of strength.
- Understanding where to gain further supports.
Assessment Process:
The ADHD assessment is typically carried out over four 1-hour clinical consultations. During these sessions, Chester may provide a range of psychological questionnaires to help form the assessment. In some cases more sessions may be required depending on the client's presentation or other complexities.
Assessment Cost:
The typical total cost to undertake an ADHD assessment is $950 which includes four clinical interviews ($200 per session) and a feedback session ($150) at the end of the assessment. A letter to the client's general practitioner will also be provided as part of this cost. If any additional reports are required this will be discussed at the time of assessment.
Additional psychometric testing may be needed to receive an accurate diagnosis (e.g. cognitive assessment), which would incur further costs. This can be discussed during consultation.
Referral Process:
No formal referral is required to undertake the assessment. If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Rockingham Psychology team on 9500 9010.
*Please note psychologists cannot provide prescriptions for medication.
